Five years after its release, Kacey Musgrave’s Golden Hour is still giving listeners butterflies. It has everything from acid trips to celestial love stories, and plenty of existentialism to burn through. Kacey’s voice flutters over autoharp and guitar, gently detailing life experiences with dreamy, perfectly placed lyrics. A 21st century bridge between country and pop—culturally ushering in an unforeseen era of alternative, progressive country music. Golden Hour instantly became a beacon in country music for a generation of forgotten fans, in an otherwise dying genre commandeered by politicians. In the five years since, its sound and spirit has guided droves of new musicians to the genre, and created a soft place to land for country listeners everywhere. – Victoria (10/10)
