Welcome to Polachek's island. Acclimate to the bittersweet surroundings and find yourself in a world of joy. Pop music often suffers at the hands of being undeniably shallow; the upper echelons of the game often fulfilling a sense of surface level while hosting a challenge on a deeper level - it goes without saying that Polachek offers up the best of both. The lavishly detailed world of Desire imbues a feeling of submersion in the most pleasing of aesthetical waters. The depth of the waters is tremendous; down and down you go. The sanitizing tug of the tide gently pulls you along as the somber undercurrent shades your perspective. There may not be a better album closer so far this year; more than likely, for the remainder. With Desire, Polachek re-claims the world of Art Pop as her own. – Peter (8/10)

Community Reviews:

Even with heightened expectations after 2019's Pang, Polachek's latest work goes above and beyond. Adventurous, exhilarating, and often breathtaking, she's now positioned herself at the forefront of the electropop/hyperpop movement. My current AOTY! – @ky1efrenxh (9/10)
